VALPARAÍSO FINE ARTS MUSEUM COLLECTION

The Museum exhibits both European and Chilean work (S.XVIII - S. XX) being one of the most important public collections in the country.
The Museum cares for and spreads the pictorial works of “The Foreigners Precursors”; “Great Masters of Chilean Painting”; “The 13 Generation”; “Montparnasse Group”; “The 40 Generation”; “The Port City Generation”; among other groups and artistic movements.
The art gallery is enriched with the donations of Mister Pascual Baburizza, pictorial works by European authors, representing the plastic manifestations of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Chilean Collection
WORKS SINCE 1840 UNTIL 1970

It consists on paintings rescued from the first museum, plus awards from competitions and donations. It includes the period that goes from 1840 to 1970. There are Chilean and foreign authors living in our country who create works of varied themes: countryside, mountain, rural and marine landscapes, portraits, figures and nudes, still lifes, etc.It is a great timeline of the history of Chilean visual arts.

IT IS THE OLDEST COLLECTION ARTICULATED BY THE MUSEUM SINCE 1895.

In the ``Valparaíso Collection`` we can recognize the development of the city and the port through the years; documentary, iconographic and landscape aspects show the evolution of the port from 1844 to 1970. More than 30 pieces by Mauricio Rugendas; Thomas Somerscales; Alfredo Helsby; Juan Francisco González; Alberto Valenzuela Llanos; RokoMatjasic; to name a few, structure this emblematic collection.

European Collection
WORKS FROM 1840 TO 1930

Mister Pascual Baburizza’s donation to the city. Composed of a variety of trends, styles and proposals. More than 70 works by European authors, romantic, pre-impressionist, post-impressionist, costumbrist, realism, figurative, academic, naturalist, symbolist and pre-expressionist artists. They present landscapes, portraits and figures, popular motifs, outdoor scenes, intimate, typical urban, rural and marine corners. All created between 1840 to 1930.

Sculptures Collection
WORKS FROM 1960 TO 1990

This collection has contemporary works from 1960 to the mid-1990s, in various techniques such as marble, stone, steel, recovered metals, bronze and terracotta. Works ranging from figuration and expression of monumentalist cut, to abstraction. All are award-winning works in national and international competitions held in Valparaíso.
